Rap Sessions #2

"Hear, O sons, a father's instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight..." -Proverbs 4:1

My father taught me a lot of things such as how to be a man, how to treat people, how to be strong and work hard. He never was the let's-sit-down-and-chat kind of dad but I learned more from him through his actions. I remember him, every now and then, throwing out these pearls that stuck with me. During a rough patch in my life, I remember he told me, "it's going to get harder as it begins." At the time I was like, "What!...thats all you got?" Hahaha, I had no clue what that meant. I didn't know what he was talking about until I got out of the rut I was in. But he was right. At first it wasn't easy. He reminded me to be strong, be tough, nothing is easy at the start but gets better in time. When I think back on it, I can really apply it to anything new in my life. Becoming a dad, a husband, a new job, starting something from scratch or fixing a mess. I'm sure he might be reading this thinking, "I don't remember that" but I do. I don't know if it's just age but sometimes I throw out a few pearls of my own that I should write down hahaha. I'm sure my wife thinks otherwise. You know how when your talking with someone and you say something so enriching you surprise yourself? I get those moments sometimes too talking to my wife and kids haha, we're so wise. Happy Father's Day men. Thank you God for being a Father to the Fatherless and a Father that loves all his children equally.
